Special guidelines apply to branded items at the School of Medicine. Because School of Medicine graphics and guidelines have recently been updated, it is important to seek guidance to be sure you have correct, up-to-date graphics. Please see below for information on specific graphics.

For logo embroidery on all faculty and staff lab coats and scrubs, please see section below.

Guidelines for Faculty and Staff Lab Coats or Scrubs

For faculty and staff lab coats or scrubs, the Washington University Physicians logotype should be used.   It is the only logo approved by the offices of the School of Medicine Dean and the University Chancellor for these uses.   The logotype may not be changed in any way.

As of 2006, the licensed supplier Lipic's Inc. is the only University approved vendor for the embroidery of the above logo on lab coats and scrubs.   Lipic's can assist you with all stages of the embroidery process, including supplying artwork. Contact Lipic's at 314-775-2500.

Personalized names and departments of faculty and staff may appear underneath the logo.   The University standard is black or dark green thread in Helvetica or Helvetica Condensed font (depending on the length of the name). University standard uses 3/8" lettering, and avoids "Department of."

SPECIAL NOTE: Embroidery or imprinting of the above logo on other items may be done by other companies. However, the quality of all embroidery must be pre-approved by the Faculty Practice Plan Communications office (314-747-6542).

Official School Version of University Logotype

For other applications, it may be most appropriate to use the official School of Medicine logo. Please note that there are three versions of this logotype available, and a variety of electronic files are available to download at: logo.wustl.edu
